Toward A Science of Consciousness
For those who are attending the Toward A Science of Consciousness conference (April 10–14, 2012 in Tucson, Arizona), Prof. Brian J. McVeigh will be giving a talk on Jaynes's theory titled "Hallucinations as Adaptation: Divine Voices, Visions, and Autoscopy as Neuropsychological Vestiges" on Wednesday, April 11 during the 4:30pm - 6:35pm "Evolution and Free Will" session.
Executive Director Marcel Kuijsten will be attending the conference, and an informal gathering of Jaynes enthusiasts will be arranged if there is sufficient interest. If you are planning on attending please send an e-mail to info@julianjaynes.org

Robert J. Sawyer - "Consciousness in Science Fiction" (Sat., April 17, 11:00am)
Science fiction writer Robert Sawyer will be one of the keynote speakers. Mr. Sawyer incorporates Jaynes's ideas into two of his novels: WWW: Wake and Mindscan.

At the 2008 "Toward a Science of Consciousness" conference, Brian J. McVeigh and Marcel Kuijsten presented a four-hour pre-conference workshop titled "Reappraising Julian Jaynes's Theory of Consciousness and the Bicameral Mind: 30 Years of New Evidence." In addition, there were 6 speakers presenting talks related to Jaynes's theory.
A 5-speaker session, "Consciousness and Julian Jaynes," took place on Wednesday, April 9th. Speakers for the session were:

- Brian McVeigh, Lecturer in East Asian Studies, University of Arizona, "The Lost Voice of God: Julian Jaynes and Neurotheology"

An additional talk on Jaynes's theory was be given by Jan Sleutels, Professor of Philosophy at Leiden University, during the "Evolution of Consciousness" session. It was titled "Recent Changes in the Structure of Consciousness?"
