Jaynes's Unpublished Chapters
In mid 2011 you wrote within the website, "Prof. Woodward has agreed to publish Jaynes's unpublished chapters through the Julian Jaynes Society. I expect to have this publication ready sometime in late 2012." There has been no update since then. Could you discuss the status of this project...

Re: The Iliad - which translation?
It is also worth reading a recent thread here that discusses the importance of translations, and how many, if not most, are modernized for contemporary readers. In other words, a factual translation is shunned in favor of a smoothed, "readable" version. http://www.julianjaynes.org/forum3/v...

Re: Recent News of Interest to the Jaynes Community?
Just finished the article you link to. Seems tangentially related to Jayne's theory at best. Can you explain how you see grief theory relating to Jayne's theories of consciousness?

Re: Bicameral Mind As A Dynamic
Jim, complicated subject. The bicameral mind, as theorized by JJ, is a pre-conscious mind, devoid of consciousness as we define it. I suspect from your questions that you haven't read JJ's work. Briefly, -- No, the theory of bicameral mind has nothing to do with "a continuation of the ability t...

Bowie is definitely one of the more serious and well read musicians alive today. Not to mention intelligent. Nice to see his interest in Jaynes.

Re: Vatican II and the Bicameral Mind
Dustin, he's referring to Vatican II opening up some the forms of worship, increasing inclusiveness and generally being somewhat more receptive in its forms of worship to contemporary society... which Jaynes implies may continue to occur as a result of consciousness.
