Great, but I had hoped for more...

When I saw Dr. Persinger on the list of contributors to this volume I was very glad. After reading Origin I hunted for more on the subject and found Neuropsychological Basis for God Beliefs by Michael Persinger. After this, I was fascinated by his work and the bold questions he asks. I think Neuropsychological Basis for God Beliefs would have been a great addition to Reflections along with detailed information on Persinger's experiments with EMF stimulation of the brain and his theories on the alien abduction experience and temporal lobe epilepsy. I believe A Neuro... is out of print and I don't know of any recent publications by Persinger, if he has published anything recently or is working on anything, I would love to know about it. If he is available to this forum, well, I probably have as many questions as he feels like answering.

Yes, Dr. Persinger's work on a feeling of presence in the right hemisphere is highly relevant and his Foreword is a valuable contribution to the book.

When you say
I think Neuropsychological Basis for God Beliefs would have been a great addition to Reflections
I'm not sure what you mean by that -- obviously a 175 page book cannot be contained within another book. But if you mean just a discussion of his ideas, I completely agree. There is so much ground to cover in any project discussing Jaynes's work, unfortunately not everything can be included. Hopefully for a future edited volume Professor Persinger might consider writing a chapter on how his fascinating research relates to Jaynes's theory.

In the meantime, Professor Persinger regularly publishes articles in academic journals, some of which you may be able to find at a university library.
