Re: Tiredness in Pre-Conscious Beings

Okay, I see where you are going with this now. I will be thinking about it for some time. I flipped through Jayne's and he thinks that ideas of morality and justice are products of consciousness. I'm not sure that you would be able to be aware of injustice without some understanding of justice or fa...

Re: Anyone using a Jaynesian Model of Psychotherapy?

@niklas, From the studies I have seen, there appears to be increased bi-lateral activation in three groups of individuals: 1. non-clinical subjects experiencing auditory hallucination 2. clinical schizophrenic subjects experiencing hallucinations 3. non-clinical experienced meditators. My interpreta...

Re: Anyone using a Jaynesian Model of Psychotherapy?

I do see meditation as tool to enhance and strengthen consciousness and this where I am going to disagree with niklas. There are couple of things that are at the heart of buddhism; one of which is this idea of mindfulness, being engaged in whatever you are doing at all times. So if you are sweeping ...

Re: Consciouness and the "RAM" of the Brain

Mod, Thanks for the link to the study. It would appear that my idea might have some merit to it and I appreciate the input. I did happen to come across this article as well... It is well established that the brain uses more energy than any other human organ, accounting for up to 20 percent of the bo...

Thanks for posting this. I was not aware that sustained high-level mental activity could burn that many calories, but it makes sense.

Re: Mind Control and Cults

I think there is validity in pursuing mind control/cult connection. Jaynes does discuss the General Bicameral Paradigm that may have existed after the breakdown of bicameralism. Most if not of all if this seems to be applicable to cults in my opinion. "By this phrase, I mean an hypothesized str...

Consciouness and the "RAM" of the Brain

First off, I would just like to say hi. I am a new member and was surprised and pleased to find a forum discussing Julian Jaynes. Most of the time when I mention Julian Jaynes to people, they are most likely to go "huh?". I am strictly a lay person, but when I read Julian Jaynes a few year...
