New Evidence

Post by david_s »

I really enjoyed the discussion of the new evidence for Jaynes's ideas in this chapter, esp. the imaging studies that support Jaynes's neurological model. It's exciting to see that neuroscience has progressed to the point that some of Jaynes's early predictions are being validated. It was also interesting to read how the 'consciousness based on language' hypothesis has gained so much support since Jaynes first published his ideas.

Yes it will be very interesting to see if a consensus begins to emerge over the next few years on the right temporal lobe being implicated in auditory hallucinations, as Jaynes predicted.
