Nietzsche and Jaynes

Post by rrohrer »

I just finished reading The Gay Science by Friedrich Nietzsche for the third time since 1985. This time I was particularly struck by Aphorisms 354 and 355 (pages 297-302 of the Kaufmann paperback) where Nietzsche emphasizes "...Consciousness has developed only under the pressure of the need for communication..." italic emphasis by Nietzsche and/or Kaufmann. I found these six pages to be further evidence of Nietzsche's extreme prescience later corroborated by Jaynes!
