Jan Sleutels: I read Julian Jaynes’s book when I was a first-year student, a few years after it was published. It was not part of any of my courses, but so were most of the books I read. I absolutely loved it. Amazing claims, an inspiring mix of archaeology, psychology, and philosophy, and a very engaging writing style! Then I put Jaynes on the shelf and went on reading lots of other books that took my fancy.
